    Hi!

Vielen Dank für die Herstellung dieser Podcast. Ich lerne eine Menge! meine Frage ist:

(It is much easier for me to comment in English! I can understand spoken/written German well. So feel free to reply in German .. thanks!)

I am interested in offering my product in the US market. What do you suggest?: Asking the manufacturer to send it directly to amazon, or ship it first to me to Germany and then I send it myself to USA (after making sure that they are all ok)? … and what do you think about a service to do that for me: I saw somebody mentioning http://forestshipping.com .. do you have an experience with them? Do you suggest something/somebody similar?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi H.S. and thanks for your Comment.

I hope you can gain something from our podcast, the next one is uploading as I type.

As for the shipping. I do a mixed style. Sometimes I send to friends in the US, to inspect teh goods. Sometimes I have my supplier send me tons of pictures and close ups.

If its an important shipping with a lot of value I would go with asiainspect. They help you get an eye on your goods.

For shipping and forwarding, I work with westernoverseas and I get fbaforward recommended a lot. I dont know forestshipping but it might be just as good.

Please join our FB Group and we can continue this talk, I am interested in learning more about shippment because mine were quite difficult recently.

      Hi

Thanks for the quick response and valuable information. I am already there in the group. I am very new and now in the phase of learning and researching resources/tools/experiences. I have 1500 Euro to start my first test, and kinda in “analyzing-all-possible-problems” mode 🙂

I want to make my first experience a good one .. and I do not have a friend in the US .. so I might make the manufacture send all to me first. I am still not sure!!

Another concern for me is the legal liabilities. I mean I am not a US citizen, selling in the US from Germany! .. It is kind of strange! .. What is your recommendation of things to do to keep our actions completely clean and legal while doing this business?

Thanks again for sharing your experiences guys!

1500 Euro should be good to start with your first product. You probably want to get an item that is pretty cheap and light, lets say 2-4$ per Item Including Shipping.

I would only send to Germany first if you order a low quantity and on light weight.

Otherwise asiainspect just makes more sense.

I am swiss selling in the USA, so I need to meet the same criteria I think.

Make sure you ask a local “Steuerberater” what is best about Taxes. I think you only have to pay taxes in germany but I am no expert on that. Also I would recommend creating some sort of company to protect yourself as an individual. But that might have time until you see some sucess comming, before that, honestly I wouldn’t bother.

      Nice!

It feels that things are not as complicated as I am anticipating!

I will worry about taxes and a private company once I get some success as you’ve mentioned.

I know that I am over-asking you .. but your kindness is tempting me to point out one last thing I would very much like your experience on (and I think it will benefit all fans!):

You have mentioned 2-4$ per item including shipping.
Calculating this number is a bit complex for me!

Let us take this product as an example:
      http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Lastest-Universal-Ajustable-steering-wheel-phone_60084902199.html?spm=a2700.7724838.30.84.gIeb1f&s=p

(MOQ = 300, price per item ~0.8$, weight per item 50g with package > 15kg for 300 items)

I am trying to sort out the TOTAL costs in my mind:
      1- shipping a sample to me = 40-50$ * 3 (3 differnet manufactures to compare) ~ 150$
      2- manufacture cost (to manufacture it): 0.8*300 = 240$
3- manufacture cost (to label it for me and prepare it for amazon FBA): ?*300 = ?
4- shipping to me in Germany = ?
5- shipping again from me to the US amazon FBA warehouse =?
      6- Amazon FBA costs =?
      7- Amazon lunching costs=?
8- cost for 25 reviews from tomoson.com service for example =?
9- costs for the “usual” amount of PPC for these 300 items to be sold and drive me closer to the first page=?
10- something that I do not know (please add it here!)= ?
      150+240+?+?+?+… = ?

And do you think I need to have another 1500 ready so I can order the second order soon so that I would’nt run out of inventory?

      Thanks a million!!

I would like to add also: what if I canceled number 4 and replaced it with asia inspect. What effect does this have on this particular example?

Sorry for the late reply: Trying my best to keep up with work. Here are some of my toughts:

    1- shipping a sample to me = 40-50$ * 3 (3 differnet manufactures to compare) ~ 150$

    > yes correct, thats only for the first shipping usually

    2- manufacture cost (to manufacture it): 0.8*300 = 240$

    > yes correct. keep in mind that alibaba prices are not the same, then offered by the suppliers, they may vary.

3- manufacture cost (to label it for me and prepare it for amazon FBA): ?*300 = ?

    > you mean apploying the UPC, usually costs nothing to 50$ for several 1000 pcs. if you create your own packaging, you include upc directly on packaging. you dont have packaging design cost on this list

4- shipping to me in Germany = ?

    > should be aroung 5-7$ per kg by dhl air express

5- shipping again from me to the US amazon FBA warehouse =?

    > should be aroung 5-7$ per kg by dhl air express

    6- Amazon FBA costs =?

    > selling for $15, fba cost will be $5 total. check out fba cost calculator

    7- Amazon lunching costs=?

    > free as of amazon, other then that, it varies from 0-1000$ relly depends on your strategie, hard to tell

8- cost for 25 reviews from tomoson.com service for example =?

    >99/per month, amazon fba fee 3$ per unit

9- costs for the „usual“ amount of PPC for these 300 items to be sold and drive me closer to the first page=?

    > again, ppc is hard to tell, can range from 10 cent to 5$ per click. if niche is competitive, cpc is 1-2 for sure

10- something that I do not know (please add it here!)= ?

    > cost of design, taxes, return cost, disposal cost. really depends on your product, hard to say

    150+240+?+?+?+… = ?

    > see above

anceled number 4 and replaced it with asia inspect

    > asia inspect will charge you $300 for a good review rougly

for any further questions please ask in facebook, so everyone will read along 😉
